Hi Tanner,

I admire Lacey and your determination. I think that would be a great idea. Weddings are getting more and more extravegant and I think this is going to just frustrate the average bride and groom who don't have unlimited funds. So I think you will have a good market for this type of book.

Good luck!

Also,

I just moved my blog to a new address!

Would you mind updating our link on your blog roll to…

http://www.ourweddingplus.com/blog

I already moved your link my blog roll to the new site.

Thanks!

I have to be perfectly honest here -- the market is already loaded with TONS of books that cover the exact same topic (don't believe me? A quick amazon search and I just found over 40). Frankly, I've flipped through a few in the bookstore, and wouldn't bother to spend my own money on any of them. None of the ideas are so revolutionary that it is worth shelling out money to read them -- mostly, they are just common sense. A free blog is one thing, but (no offense), there have been no ideas on here for which I would be willing to pay.

I agree with Julie's post, above. There are plenty of books out there on the market, and to be perfectly honest, I haven't found any ideas at all on your blog that I hadn't heard many times before.

Good idea but make sure you work with a good wedding planner that con think of some of the pitfalls to your tips so that the brides consider everything involved with saving money on certain things. (See the comments I have added to the blog today) I love your site and plan to visit on a regular basis. I publish a wedding magazine in Phoenix and think you have some great ideas.

To be perfectly honest I wouldn't. I think the market is saturated and there is too much free information online. Don't let that stop an ambition you have though. If it's something you really want to do, make it happen.

I think it's a good idea...though the other readers have a good point - there truly are SEVERAL books out there with similar tips. However, it never hurts to expand your ideas and talk to the right people (professional wedding planners like they mentioned). You never know, you could have a best seller! Getting a book published is not easy though, and does not happen overnight. My aunt's friend just got one of her books published after 20 years of writing several...not that it takes that long for everyone, but it can. Best of luck to you, I do love some of your ideas, and look forward to reading more of your posts! You can do anything you set your mind to...if you want to write a book, GO FOR IT! :)

Maybe if you had successfully had a fantastic wedding for a fraction of the usual price, or managed to raise a lot of money in a short time then people would be interested in reading your book.
You've raised $583.

I agree with most people that this type of information is already out there. However, I also think that if you wrote an ebook and sold it for cheap that you might actually get a few sold. Also, give it a catchier name. You'd be amazed at what people will buy if it's cheap.

Now, as for a "real" book: I think there are many books like this on the market, BUT, if you were to have a book highlighting all the weird things you're doing to raise money, that might be interesting. It could be a coffee-table book with pictures of the things you did to raise money. Now, I mean, really weird things, not raising money with Adsense or selling something on Amazon. I mean things like dressing up like a chicken and standing in front of a chicken restaurant spinning a sign. Or singing wedding songs in your tux and wedding gown at the entrance of a subway with a little cup for donations. Just what are you willing to do to raise money that would make a compelling book?

I notice that throughout your blog you have things that other people can do to raise money for their weddings. Of course, in a book you'd want to focus on all the things you two did. That's really what you want your book to focus on.

Good luck.
