To capture a wedding well, a photographer must anticipate the shot and be in position. Otherwise all you are going to get is posed pictures. If you want to save money on a photographer, try paring down the number of hours. Do you really need 12 hours of coverage? Send them home early during the reception. After a certain point everyone is sweaty, disheveled and you are not going to buy those pictures anyway. Just my 2 cents. If you're still trying to make up your own mind about a wedding photographer, perhaps you could consider branching out into the apprentice photographer pool - we are hungry for work, work for peanuts, and can produce quality that is one notch below the $2500 wedding cost.
