Savings Tip #10: Buy Wedding Accessories at Discount

Here are a couple things I bought at discount prices for our wedding.
The other day at Wal-Mart, I found some greeting cards on an aisle end. I found Bridal Shower invitations at $2.50 a piece for 10 cards. They were marked down from $5 a piece. I also found Thank You Notes that I could use for my Bridal Shower for the same price cut!

Also, here is a very important tip. Get a cheap throw away garter! I bought mine at the dollar store for, you guessed it, $1! Remember, you will be giving away at least one garter, so it should be a very inexpensive one. If you happen to be a plus sized Bride-to-be, you might want to check out a party supply store, I have seen plus size garters for about $3 or $5 - still a good price. Here is a plus size blue garter that costs about $6. It may be hard to find a cheap plus size garter online, so check out your local dollar stores, party stores, and craft stores or even Wal-Mart.
My dollar store garter:

If you would like a keepsake garter, buy one nice garter and one cheap throwaway garter. They don’t have to match, and you don’t need to spend a lot of money on someone else at your wedding. This is a pretty cheap bridal set at Party City. You could throw away the smaller garter.
Another idea, try buying your veil at Joann Fabrics, or Wal-Mart. Some come plain, and I’ve also seen some with designs or even crystals sewn in. If you’re a crafty bride, you can buy plain tulle fabric and create your own. Try adding your own personal touches by sewing or gluing on decorations.

Never underestimate the Dollar Spot at Target. We bought a lot of stuff for our destination wedding out-of-town bags there and were impressed with the quality of the stuff.
