Current Estimates for Vegas and Creating a Budget

Right now, I have a few estimates for the ceremony at the Venetian. Some of these estimates are high, this is because I am taking the method of “preparing for the worst” so that either we will be properly prepared or we will end up saving money (remember, we are starting the budget with a buffer, so if we stay under the $5,000 limit, we are technically saving money).

Here are some costs:

Gondola Package
at Venetian - $900 (real price for a Saturday)
Photography by the Venetian - $325
Video by the Venetian - $295
Marriage License - $55
Dinner at the Grand Lux - $510 ($30 x 17 attendants) *this is a high estimate, $30 is unreasonable for the restaurant we plan to eat at, but again, this will set us up to save money*

Tanner’s Tuxedo rental - $100 (rough estimate…to be determined)

Current Estimated Total: $1,620 - which means we have about $400 left for our ceremony expenses. We’ll have to find a way to drive this cost down - probably from dinner.

I haven’t included a wedding dress price yet. I’m hoping for a dress that costs $100-300. It’s too soon to determine what price I can get. I haven’t seen any David’s Bridal $99 sales yet. lol.

I’m debating about getting my hair and makeup done at the Venetian’s Canyon Ranch Spa….it’s $125 for a “wedding updo” and $75 for makeup. It’s a pretty high price, and I have looked at surrounding casinos like Harrah’s and they have a better price, but I somewhat prioritize convenience of staying in the same hotel - over price in this case…so I have to decide if I can afford to make this sacrifice.

On that note - prioritizing is an important part of wedding planning. After you decide on an overall budget (each future spouse, parents, etc. should say what they are willing to pay), then you should decide what is most important to you - location? food? attire? music? The budget should be allocated to spend more on the prioritized item, and lower priorities should receive budget cuts. More on this later!
